ON BECOMEING THE OLD GEEZER

When you reaching fifty-seven ,

Sixty getting closer ,

Youngsters refer to you ,

As '' that old geezer '' ,

You realise your candle ,

Onese high and thick ,

Standing proud ,

Now a stub ,melted wax ,

Among the many lessons learnt ,

Is to make the best of the light ,

The candle has left.

Hi Ken...you may be a "geezer" but at 57 you're not old...
Your candle's got a lot of burning flaming to go...

If you think you're old now, what with me being 84, you must
think I'm past ancient

xxx your slow burning friend...xxx Stan

This is another of your originalities that made me smile, love the candle analogy.

Though I'd probably fall in the category of Old Geezer now, I have always respected and admired older people. Hey, they've been around a long time and many of them have a huge reservoir of wisdom and experience. And the young whipper-snappers should remember that they too will someday be geezers.

I loved your poem. You always come up with interesting material.
