QUIBBLING OVER THE PRICE
I walked down the jetty,
To the ferry,
Wear the ferryman waited ,
Dressed in his cowl,
His hood covered his face,
He held out his bonny hand,
I put in my penny,
All was quiet,
Then like a crack of thunder,
His voice broke the silence,
''THE PRICE IS A POUND! ''
''AND I DON'T TAKE PLASTIC!'' ,
''WHAT A POUND! '',
I replied indignantly,
We had a bit of a Barney,
''YES, A POUND, STERLING! ''
''YOU KNOW V A T , COUNCIL TAX '',
''INFLATION AND THAT KIND OF THING '',
'' WELL, IT ALL ADDS UP YOU KNOW '',
'' THE COST OF DEATH '' ,
''WELL I GOTTER MAKE A DYEING YOU KNOW '' ,
''WELL '' , I replied ,
''Stuff that , then I aint coming '',
So I turned on me heels,
Walled back down the jetty,
And back home I went
