A Tennessee Moment

Young Mateus afforded me a visit today.
I was as ever happy to see him...
Ten years old and fierce curious
About this strange foreign woman.

As I squeezed juice from oranges and
Cubed melon to combat the heat
He paused from examining my room
(Which is his greatest pleasure) to
Have a chat with one of the cats.

Imagine my delight when plate in hand
I came across the scene
Of him and my darling Grace playing
Cat on a hot thin youth.

I have my sons girlfriend staying so this made me laugh, she's a lovely girl and obviously thinks I'm as mad as hatter.

I love cat on a hot tin roof!

This is brill, Jenks. And OMG we're neighbors. Almost. Great poem that must have flown off the pen.

Hot. We need to think of new word for hot, this is something else.

Still smiling! I have a feeling the last line was the inspiration for the poem! Boy and cat - It certainly IS the master line: the image lives in my mind. I like your phraseology and deceptive simplicity. - Marie
