A CHIPPDE WALL RAMSGATE HARBOUR (WW1)

There's a brick chipped ,

Ramsgate harbor work shops,

Many locals and visitors a like pass it by ,

Taken no notice of the chippie wall ,

A brick walls a brick wall after all said and dun ,

Not looking at the wall , those who do ,

Pay it little account , thinking of not why ,

Not knowing that a bomb or two were dropped ,

By German Gothers bomber planes , in 1917 ,

Kids were playing when the bombs fell ,

As I was told by my aunty Nell ,

Ran in to the workshop ,

A blast tore in killing and maiming the kids inside ,

My great aunty Nell was on the bottom of the heap of kids ,

Sustained a hit from a bomb in her leg ,

The shrapnel was to be with her all her life ,

Traveled all through her body , all her life ,

It was not till she had an X- Ray years later ,

Was the shrapnel found ,

May well of been the death of great aunty Nell ,

When she was 83 ,

Maybe aunty Nell was the last Ramsate casualty ,

Of world war one
