A Girl

I'm eight and an eighth years old
With this big green flag I have to wave
Oh and chant...I forget the chanting-
But I have to chant for the kernal they say.

The kernal is talking now and I must be still
Daddy says he cares about me and we must
Stay close...

He must not have a best friend
That man. Oh look! Abu is here
And there is space over there where
We can play doctors and nurses.

A Boy

I'm eight and eighth years old
and I wonder how long
I will have to wait
before I too can kill

I can't blame this little girl for being more interested in playtime with Abu!

This makes me think: Let children be children! And it squeezes my heart painfully that her world is stolen by the madness of power by a man and worldwide political "diplomacy" debating how their profit deals will be affected! To me, presenting it from the child's perspective drives home the appalling reality of the situation. *hugs* xx
