SAT THINKING

I came a cross a man ,

Sat on a bench ,

He was like old , real old ,
He were looking in front ,

Focused in what was before ,
Eyes , nowt that I could see ,

They looked rather blank ,
To be honest , with you ,

I asked him if he aright ,

''Aye lad '' , I'm all right '' ,

''Just sat hare thinking '' ,

'' That's all '' ,

Mind if I sit down with you , old feller? '' ,

'' Nay , lad , I don't mind at all ''

So I sat down besides the old boy ,

We both looked into in to the silence ,
Saying nowt , just thinking ,

Of what , he of his thoughts , me of mine ,
Long we sat thinking ,

Then I got to me feet , offered my hand ,
He gave me his , we shook hand's ,

We thanked each other , wished each other all the best ,

Then on I went on my road

Such a direct and simple and unadorned poem of a few moments in time, I find it rather profound and I like the drifting nature of your writing . . . just thoughts. It takes a long time and a lot experience to write so well. I think the younger writers could learn a lot from this, as could we all.

A communion of kindred spirits doesn't require words to be exchanged in order to be connected in a common moment. How rare a thing though. Thank you for sharing yours.

Sometimes those quiet, shared moments are quite special, they just are what they are.

Thinking,we all do that, sit beside a stranger,,say hi,,maybe a small chat, but in silence we think,of the other person, what thoughts are unrolling in their head....we smile, say have a good day.Thinking, never do we ever stop!;)nice write!
