Performed: February 11, 2002

This was performed as lyrics for a senior solo, and was talking about graduation; but in a way that could be interpreted as a general journey that anyone could identify with the concept.

Time Does Not Wait

We leave ourselves behind
Not knowing what's coming
The real world's approaching
But I pave the road ahead
My heart locks in the bittersweet
But my tears expel the pain
Friends teach me who I am
And where my priorities lie
I am the traveler
The country waits to be explored
Many people cross my path
I find what I don't want to be

Years go by time doesn't wait
Experiences come and go
Emotions take over
To create memories
But time must go on
But time must go on

The sun is to my face
The moon is at my back
There is comfort in the night
A longing to look back
My destination is the sun
The new warmth draws me near
I know there will be times
Where I'll see the starts again
But not today
Because

Years go by time doesn't wait
Experiences come and go
Emotions take over
To create memories
But time must go on
But time must go on

I know that I look rugged
But I've found my path
Now I look at the night
Adjusting to the light
I see what was said and done
I see what my heart recalls
I haven't forgotten
You play in my mind
On a falling star I see
I wish for our paths to cross
I continue toward the sun
As fait controls the game
Our paths were parallel you see
As your silhouette appears
I thought our lives have changed
But friendship we'll always have
A circle my path has taken
I am home again

Years go by time does not wait
Experiences come and go
Emotions take over
To create memories
Years go by time does not wait
Experiences come and go
Emotions take over
To create memories
But time must go on
But time must go on

So well said. This is an excellent write miss J Carbone!
I really like the repeated line "but time must go on"
It is so true--even when we don't want it to be
Keep publishing!

(also, did you mean fate* where you put fait*--or am I just flaunting my small vocabulary?)
