This is an ode to Forest Gump and the writer who helped to make it so popular. This is also deticated to every Jenny alive after July 9, 1994 who has heard the movie quoted in its entirety over the years.... Maybe one day there will be a support group.

In Love with a Jenny

It was one Wednesday afternoon when the winds changed
It was one Wednesday afternoon in July 1994
I was not aware how my life would change
I was not aware that I would owe anyone thanks

Thank you Mr. Zemeckis for making a block buster hit
Thank you Mr. Gump for shining a light
On humanity, bullying, and love
Thank you Mr. Gump for falling in love
In love with a Jenny

First day of school in September
First day in a new school
Introductions inspire giggles over a Jenny
Guys giggle in gym
Quoting the famous line
As we run the physical fitness mile
Thank you Mr. Gump
Thank you for falling in love
In love with a Jenny

Calls down the hall
Talking about veggies
Made me dream of escaping
Running through the corn fields
Ending in a weeping willow tree
As the sun sets
And the stars start coming out at night
Dreams of turning into a bird
To fly far, far away
Thank you Mr. Gump
Thank you for falling in love
In love with a Jenny

As a simile for an introduction
He looked at me over a long lunch
Came up to me on the breeze way
Asking me to go out with him
Gump Style
Thank you Mr. Gump
Thank you for falling in love
In love with a Jenny

College parties had a Gump theme,
Where every girl was called Jenny
And every guy, Gump
Lines fly like beer
And scenes unfold such as what was portrayed
In 1975, in Washington DC
Thanks to the hippies fighting to end Vietnam
Thank you Mr. Gump
Thank you Mr. Peas for falling in love
In love with a Jenny

The engagement came
Where he discussed a bowl of cherries
Where he described life as a box of chocolate
Where he asked me to be the carrots to his peas
For all of our days
Thank you Mr. Gump
Thank you Mr. Peas for falling in love
In love with a Jenny

The wedding came
I agreed to be his carrots
And he agreed to be my peas
Thank you Mr. Gump
Thank you Mr. Peas for falling in love
In love with a Jenny

At the age of 28
I had a picture
Of how my life would be
Of how he would love me
And placed the picture to show him
On top of a box of chocolates
Of our little peas and carrots
Thank you Mr. Gump
Thank you Mr. Peas for falling in love
In love with a Jenny

Our peas and carrots grew up
Where off in college
They met their own peas and carrots
Making their own peas and carrots
Together the grand kids
Mr. Peas and I
Sat down to dinner
And gummed on peas and carrots
Thank you Mr. Gump
Thank you Mr. Peas for falling in love
In love with a Jenny

My Mr. Gump grew cold
Many tears were shed
Most gave him a rose
I unbuttoned my purse
I unfolded my handkerchief
I added the paper to his pocket
From July 9, 1994
Because he was my peas
Thank you Mr. Peas for falling in love
In love with a Jenny

It has been so very long since I have seen this movie, but this poem just makes me chuckle. I really like the satire here. And I really like your title. I think that most people forget just how important a title is and just slap something up there, but I think yours fits perfectly. Hope you can get a support group one day!
