THINKING THOUGHTS

Thinking thoughts are free ,

THEY can imprison the body,

True enough ,

THEY can torture , batter ,

Burn books , empty library's ,

Book stores ,

Do all kinds of nasty things to the human body ,

But they can never stop us from thinking composing ,

Poetry and songs , nay never NEVER stop us from doing ,

That ,

Even though you will kill more than a few of us ,

What we have written in our minds and shared with others ,

Who remembered ,

Those poems and songs recited and sung long after we have gone ,

You order me to sing your songs , you grin and smile ,

I smile too ,

What you don't know and can not prove ,

I have changed the words , I sing words of defiance to your tune ,

Thinking my thoughts FREELY While in your prison , in your state ,

Of suppression , repression ,

I THINK I COMPOSE POETRY AND SONG THERETOFORE I WILL ALWAYS BE FREE

The mind is one place where we can be free, though I understand it may not be the same for everybody, but if I could ask Nelson Mandela...........? I liked your defiance in this piece.

A kind of revolutionary manifesto . . . poets have always been among the first to fight, and a fierce and eloquent truth is a powerful weapon. Power to the poets!
