it only takes a small thing

Little Yellow Sweet

I went to my postbox
And there deposited to me
Along with the bills and thrills
Sent to depress us all
Was a little cellophane wrapped
Yellow sweetmeat.

I make the wrapping sing
Between my fingers.

So sweet!

This poem came alive to me as I heard the sound of the wrapper. Brill writing.

A sweet for a sweetie. I only get mail that either asks nicely or makes demands on my fast dwindling nest egg. It especially hurts when the weather has leaden skies, cold icey driving rain and some dog has s**t on my doorstep.

We had the same day! In my mailbox was a box of pastries a friend made and sent for my birthday. Such gifts are priceless.
