Punch and Judy

Clowns are scary
Dolls are downright dire!
I fear they walk when I am sleeping.

As I watch who controls me right now
I must add buffoons to the list.

What a show of ostentatious egos
Pretending we are free.
So I go along to see others
And their things that make me see
This sane reality of small tokens
That cannot be valued is a dream.

I've always said that clowns are wrong.
They always smile just because they see you.

Clowns will stop at nothing to be in the limelight...but in the end, they remain clowns ;-)

I liked the two last lines of this! If people walked around with smiles on their faces, it'd be considered as suspicious and fake, and so I think that people's reactions to clowns could be the same as their reaction to people who are different! A good write!(:

I am always surprised by how many people are afraid of clowns, my daughter-in-law perhaps more than most, and none seems to have an explanation as to why. Even before I knew of Pagliacci I thought they were sad, hiding some great hurt behind a painted smile.
