The Edge of the Sea

Trees define edge
Dry land to wet sea
A balancing ledge
For spiritual free

Pebbles on beach
Colour flat strand
Perpetual speech
We don't understand

Crash on high rock
Cacophonous roar
Spray misting shock
On towering shore

High gull scream
Flicker in sunlight
Soundtrack of dreams
For echoing star night

Like 'perpetual speech/ we don't understand.' That's so often true of things in nature. We can spend a lifetime trying to understand its language.
