Winter woodland with branches heavy with snow. There is a quiet air of expectation in the spaces between the trees.
The branches make bridges of snow
They cover over the deep ground
Where the rabbit signs its mark
Quietly the rabbits only go
Where their passing leaves no sound
In the silence of the dark
The hint of sun between the cloud
Smooths the edge of winter white
Making crystal surface glitter
The shadow trees in winter shroud
Show colder black of coming night
When life is dark and bitter
A falling wind unsettles flakes
That float beneath in covered space
To fill the ground with hidden light
The sting of coldness gently makes
The tears upon the traveller's face
See the world with different sight
