Politics is always in many parts where no-one really fits in except that most agree that words dropped from fragile glass castles in the air, rarely mean a lot on the ground.

In the Name of Liberty

In the Name of Liberty

I raise a glass to the great and free
May your life be always good
For in the name of liberty
It is rarely understood
That every man must work his share
To build a glorious land
Yet you live in castles in the air
And never understand

That life around just carries on
In spite of the words you say
So let us praise you with our song
While other people pay
To work the land and sow the soil
A million mouths to feed
What to you is honest toil
To us is lying greed

I raise a glass to your cheery smile
May your children live to know
The way to walk the extra mile
To feel the breezes blow
Carrying voices floating song
If you listen you will hear
That even you can sing along
So join in with good cheer

We'll sing to glory and to wealth
To the empire you have lost
May you live in happiness and health
And never count the cost
Of all the souls you took away
In the blackest dark of night
You never hear the words they pray
From the fortress of your might

Nathalia
I really liked this one. A very good poem about politics, which I think must be a tough subject to write about and write well which you have!
