AN ELDERLY MAN ASKED ABOUT DEATH AND ME
An elderly man asked me what happen to me when I diedWhat I believed in , did I believe in life after death
I'd already told , explained to him I wrote poetry , that I would live fore ever
That I am an agnostic humanist , being such helped to ease the disappointments
That such philosophy brings
My believe was in humanity his and mine
That I would never die , that my work was my life , if only one
Read a work of mine , then I would be once more be a live
I'd live on with a words I had spoken , may be not by name
That I don't believe Shakespeare is dead , he lives on in work
Shakespeare's spirit lives on in others
But something I had said remembered and quoted from time to time
A smile I gave a way a hug a hand I shook , a cheek I stroked
By yes a cares or two , oh all right I crassest a few in my life
What we do be that good or bad lives on affter mortality tacks us
And we therefore I will have immortality
I sadly think he did not hear a single word I had said
As he was not really listening to me
