AS 2014 DRAWS NEAR
As 2014 draws nearHow will the beginning
Of The Great War be remembered?
That went on to claim millions of life's
The British and it's Empire over 908,000 killed
Two plus percent of the British male population your killed
That's 1 in 3 , killed , 1,663, 000 , wounded , those suffering P T S unknown
Thousand's limbless , how many who's minds broken can never be known
None found glory , the dead just dead
Those who survived to get back to dear old Blighty
Promised they would find a land fit fore heroes
Only to find mass unemployment , poverty , slums
Only relieved by the coming of WW2 , see their sons march of to yet one more war
The fathers hear their wife's ask '' so what happonde Jo? ''
'' I thought your war was going to end all wars , Jo? ''
'' I don't know lass , I don't know! ''
That questan , each generation asks
I look back and I ask that same questan
