The Here And Now

"Prepare for the future" our parents preach

But why prepare for what we may not reach

The 'Here and Now" is where we're at

It never ups and leaves us flat

The 'future', though coconceptual

Is conceptually conjectural

The 'Here and Now', is just 'Today'

For us it seems to be that way

Could it be our parents preach is not off-sided

And we young know-it-alls are just short-sighted

The eternal battleground. Brings to mind a quote, which I can not recall the author of. "Kids know everything but understand nothing"! Another enjoyable anecdotal read. :-)

Now if my parents were hear now
I recon they'd be saying:
''That the hear and how looks awfully
like back then when we kids and grew
Up in ''. '' look how it ended up like
While we teenagers ''
