IN THE DAYS OF THE LONGBOW

In years now past

It were law the English

Yeoman

Had to shoot three arrows

On the village green

On a Sunday , or else!

Still the law as far as I know

The longbow a much feared weapon

Of it's time , on the battlefield

Seven arrows in the air with one loaded

Reedy to be let loose

We've moved on since then of course

May be because King Henry the eighth

Band football , as more turned of for a game

Than fore archery practice so leaving old England

Bereft of trained archers should war come was his fear

As stated we moved on

Cant help thinking though if we had longbows

Swords , daggers don't kill , harmless , rather like guns

Would we be like America , be safer on the streets

Back to the good old days of the west

Shoot why bother with questions

Bring back lynching

Public executions , show them on Fox

And at home to kill any one looking suspicious

Looking kind of wrong

Shoot an arrow wave a sword or dagger , stab and slash

So make old England safe if only we demand the right to

Carry our given right to carry a longbow , sword , dagger

As said under ancient statute law

When in anger , in dispute , well a longbow , sword , dagger

Would soon solve all that kind of nonsense
