Literate Dissatisfaction

Non-specific obscure writing

Either in poetry or prose

Or even in a musical lyric

Can cause its readers to doze

Those who write non-definitively

And are nebulous to the point of distraction

Can bog down their readers in irrelevancy

And provide literate dissatisfaction

Yeah, if T. S. Eliot or Wallace Stevens had written murder mysteries we'd never know who done it.

I sometimes feel this way about Hart Crane and Ezra Pound, those others would beg to differ.

As always, a compact piece of wisdom and common sense accompanied by a picture that sums it up nicely.
