Ballet

How I hate this ballet
This dance of life reported
As a fantasy... as if we all are soldiers
Merely reporting in.

Perhaps the dancers might refuse
To step in time some day
Might denounce the dance on this water
We never should have to pay for.

Or some such story.

I like to think some guillotine
Is being moved to some stage left.

You are a master of imagery. I just love your work. It rolls around in my head for days.
The great Serge Nijinsky,(upon completion of Coppelia, tears streaming down his cheeks),was asked what faculty enabled him to emote so realistically,(dabbing at his eyes he muttered),"Ingrown Toenails"

Alas, at this point, we're all still reporting in, and the device remains unbuilt. I understand that Cyprus has a good troupe.

The ending image of death reminds me of Pavlova - "If I can't dance I would rather be dead" . . . and so she was, refusing to have a needed surgery that would have ended her career. To die for one's art, how many of us would choose to?

i also hate ballet, but that may be a bit much. admittedly it would make for an interesting show, but let's save the guillotine for wonderland.

rather, every ticket should come with a bottle of vodka and a box of rotten tomatoes. problem solved.
