Reality Unbound

I like to live
with reality unbound
a sense of awe
at what is
not what should
at what could
not what was

truly to reach a shore
you need planning, more
than just an intention
although is there really ever
such thing as the shore?

or do we merely find
a little peace of mind
like the calm before the storm
or the eye of the hurricane
instead of true respite

Maybe the shore is out there, but like you allude to in the first stanza, the true challenge is to maintain our sense of wonder with what is. Otherwise, I believe that we rob ourselves of life just sitting and watching for the shore.

So often I sink into wistful thoughts of what could have been, what should have been, what was. Your poem serves as a reminder to me that all we've got is now and I should not waste the precious moments focused on what simply cannot be.

I don't know if there's a shore, but I hope to find it one of these days. And truthfully, I wouldn't mind finding and eye to the hurricane, if only for a *temporary* respite.

This had me thinking, to be sure. Good job. :)
