The Leopard Cage
you lived for an age in a leopard's cage
watching the tango of sun and moon
how they danced on a page in the eye of a glass
as everything ran through needles of sand
lost in dense clocks of may building blocks to delay
the hands when they came from fields of gone
always there just away from the where you did stay
with a lamp of persia and a purple print shawl
past your porch was a tree growing ten thousand years tall
perhaps there's a page in a forest of words wild and wise
I saw you roaring there with a voice too clear to devise
alone on your page, in a leopard's cage
