This work , wonders some what. I try to convey , much , to maybe. My mind as it was thinking at the time. Feedback welcome.

IT WERE A FUNNY NEW KIND OF WAR

It were a funny new kind of war , but with out that many laughs

The they said it were the war to end war , that were a bitter cynical laugh

Thar war lead to many endings but wars it did not!

Embers left smoldering , that lead to more wars

World War Two the biggest , largest , widest war of all

Embers still smoldering today

Those at home in blissful innocence , dammed right ignorance of war

Went of to That War , millions never to return

Those that did really talk of what they'd seen and did them self's

Harry Patch , the last survivor of the trenches spoke out about his time

In the blood , that mud , the lice , the stench of decaying body's

In the trenches he inhabited

Of going over the top , with his chums a Lewis Gun unit

Harry wounded , his chums all killed

Harry told of facing , a German , who kept on coming towards Harry

Harry did wont to kill the German , so he aimed low , still the German

Staggered on towards Harry , Harry aimed higher knee level , till the

German fell , Harry hopes the German did not die , almost certainly did

Poor bastard's all

So many died for Kings , Emperors , a President , country , and yes a God

Many new beginnings as endings true enough

Empires crashed , smashed , burnt

While others grew stronger , land grabbers

Grabbed from the dead rotten , decaying old empires

Killed off by that war to end all wars

New independent country's formed from the broken empires

New weapons of mass destruction M O D's to you and I

Machine guns , tanks , aircraft , artillery , gas

Barbwire , brought up sharp the cavalry , as a way to fight wars ended

Woman finally given the vote in Britain , full equality in 1928

A woman died for right to the vote , Emily Davison 1913

The woman of New Zealand given the vote 1893

Australian woman in 1908 , exercised in 1911 , due political shenanigans

No woman died obtaining the vote in New Zealand or Australia

Some times the oppressors are to clever by half , so shoot them self's in the

Foot

American woman , passed by congress 1919 , ratified 1920

Constitution amended

Cant but think , the American constitution over woman's right to vote

Then the American Constitution can be amended to take guns off the

Streets

Clarke's , left the office to go off to that war , many never came back

Woman took there place , the sectary replacing the departed Clarke's

Servants , took on the jobs of men gone off to that war , many never

To return

Woman the workforce through the war , trams , trains , factory's and all

Book reading , writing poetry , written by those barely literate

Not just the great and good , wrote war poetry , thee knows

The Great War , a curate's egg kind of war indeed

I wonder how the world would be today if there weren't any wars? I suppose it's some way of population control, but I think there are better ways. Imagine if we had started working on green technology since that 'war to end all wars.' We could be living in a paradise of 100 shades of green all around us, loved ones lived to see their children and grandchildren and the beautiful earth we had preserved. Instead ... I can't even say it. This is truly a great poem written with so much insight. I like it.
