rain f a l l s
An invisible rain falls all aroundDrowned souls floundering lost
In violent whirlpools, beheaded
by vicious cycles of sound
Where the wounded come to drown
Repeating the same words from beginning to end
Spirit numbing, static dead lines
Wrapping the wind, withering vines,
Succor the dreams of ghosts thin to the bone
Inscribing moaning arcs of pain with their wails
Emptied of living memory long ago in a garden walked
Soft was the night in those sweet, forgotten years
When prophets read the stars for signs and wondered at such a terrible T o l l
So much more than one may see alone
Living still, dying after all
All around an invisible rain f a l l s .
