A Long Shot
This morning there were shots fired without warning
Through a window in the wind a gulf of vast unknown was yawning
As we raised the sails on our caravan to full
Felt the worlds reversing poles felt a deep magnetic pull
Launching our wagon wheels along lanes made for stars we rose
Sudden walls of constellation trees blooming brightly lit dreams
Blossomed galaxies of light seas infinite waves of night deep as ink
Wrote kingdoms more beautiful than any words may write on paper white
Veils turning rich indigo dyes of violet blue eyes into
An alien face with features somehow known as you and I...
