THEY NEVER TOLD ME IT WOULD BE LIKE THIS (WW1)

Dead , men , dead horses , dead dead all them dead laying all around
Dead trees dead villages , dead dead all dead laying all around
Dead shell holes full of the dead , body's dumped in , ready made graves
Dead , waiting to join the pile of the dead
Dead eye sockets , grins of the dead ,the dead the dead
Dead dog , laying by it's dead master , the dead , the dead , all the dead
Dead man , sat up looking sightless at a pitcher of his wife and child
Dead , the dead and the dying , those like me thinking , mater of time
Dead I'll be just one of you , soon , our dead , their dead , the enemy dead
Dead , for them it's all over now

They never told me it would be like this!

The horror of what's not been specified well portrayed in these words. I can't even begin to imagine how these men must have felt once there... *hugs* xx

This has so much impact visually as well as the content. I suppose if they knew what it was really like nobody would have any courage, but that doesn't make anything any better at all.

Why is it young men only see the hero seed and the glory of war until they get there? Yet every war is full of death and blood and suffering. It must be due to good brainwashing from recruiters.
