SEVEN CHILLDREN (WORLD WAR ONE)

Little children , skipping , laughing , on their way to ST.Lukes for Sunday school
With out a care , they skipped a long the road to Sunday School as they did evrey Sunday

They heard strange noises , from up in the sky above them the chilldren look up
Saw ten airplanes , a strange site for the chilldren to behold , a new phenomenon then
The look up , in wonder , saw something drop , the chilldren had no idea what

The world exploded all around them , among them , five children killed out right,
Blow apart
Two more Children died later

Canadians , a long way a way from home , recovering from wounds sustained at
The Front Paid for the burials , erected a monument to their memory
Parents just don't expect to pay for their children's funeral , to out live them
Not bury them

A motorist and the wife of a soldier serving France both killed , others injured

Casualties , victims , all of the war , the war had hit home in Ramsgate

Heartbreaking that innocence gets caught in the crossfire... your words always bring to the forefront the reality. *hugs* xx

The innocent victims of war are still dying today in wars that men seem unable or unwilling to stop. So much sadness.

Ivan R
With the heaviness required when speaking about the horrors of war, what comes through mostly is still the humanity, the sorrow of humans losing the war, both morally, and in the flesh. Great poem, sadly.
