Loose Ends
If I was a loose threadWould you pull me out of your head
Instead of weaving my love
Into your heart?
If I were a beloved book
Let us say, for some pretend
Would you choose to overlook
Who you knew was your bookend
And if the story ended in surprise
Late on some morning just after sunrise
As you were baking some larks for your pies
When I appeared to gaze into your eyes
Would you pull me out of your head
Instead of weaving my love
Into your heart,
If I was a loose thread?
