When she is not distracted with having to find a way to mitigate the damage implied by marauding metaphors the poetic expressions flourish. :) (or was it while she is
being distracted? )

says Hope by The Noted Poet Elizabeth Jill

[When you can hear Winter screaming all the way to Spring's front porch, listen carefully.]

There's a deep black void at the bottom of the gorge
Look down, says Hope,
then up.
There's the root of a tree to the left of me
Grab hold, says Hope,
then cling.
There's a wall of dirt with all of its hurt
Blink hard, says Hope,
clamp down.
There are mats in my hair and pain everywhere
it is night
it is stark
and I swear
pinned to a heartless stare
I'm here, says Hope,
I care.

One of those wonderful (frightening) moments when you read and think, this is me. I've been there at the bottom of the gorge, and heard that soft but persistent voice of hope.

I like the quiet tone of the entire poem. Very powerful.

So encouraging is the feeling that comes through for me, aside it being beautifully worded :) Your style stands out.
