About Life

Something about life
Makes you want to live
It's easy to go on somewhere
somehow hard to describe why,

When you have someone who
Is like a living lens of light to look through
deep into the other side of the glass
You learn to see
what is and is not
meaningful,

You learn that to die is not always what you thought it was
nor is it what you wished for before you began to die to all that
wilfulness is a hard one to shake
it snakes itself into and around the crevices and cracks until
you would just die to remember what it used to or is supposed to
feel like just to breathe without gasping for breath,

I guess there is something I would miss
about life.

Åsa Andersson
There is something about this poem that makes me want to come back and read it again and again.

It reminds me of a Swedish poet called Bodil Malmsten. She is 70 now, and is one of our country's most popular writers and poets. She once said, "I tried to kill myself when I was 17, but I failed. That can give a person a different view on failures."
