No Following

She's been around long enough
To know what her own name means
A gentle soul whose road's been tough
Without all the might have beens

She don't have time for selfish fools
Who only want to steal and confuse
Just looking for something that's real
And for someone without the will to use

Once on an August morning
I felt the evening in her soul
In a way she was leaving
Off to a place no man may follow

Perhaps I will meet her in a garden somewhere faraway
When the world has passed and it's worst turns done,
We may sit upon an old oak bench holding hands with yesterday
Only in our memories, let alone,
