FEW ARE THE BEST TO HAVE

Now , there those who 'ave loads of friends
Me , I 'ave but a few , I 'ave lernt the hard kind of way
I got the best , you maybe thinking
Well let me tell you why
I found , when alls going right grand , a bit of money in me pocket
Money in the bank , healths good , alls rather good and dandy
So many freinds , can recall them all

But when life went bad , suddenly , all the so calde friends , gone skase
Had to find at home , phone calls go unreturned

Featherweight , fair weather , friends

Yet , theres one or two , who remain , true friends

A friend is someone who never gets in your way unless it's the way down.

So true. I've been told that if at the end of our life, we can count the true friends we have on the fingers of one hand we are very lucky indeed. Who needs false friends? Good poem.

The song is called
"Nobody knows you when you're down and out"
Hitting it right on the money, about your poem

I think about the great song by Jimmy Cox (from 1923)
turned even greater by Eric Clapton in his Unplugged-version in 1994, about just that, which is that you are cool and awesome when you have something to give, (money) but then have no friends when you hit the wall, I have had many situations like that what you describe, and it hits you hard every time ... it's one of those things that occur, but man, it hurts just as much every time it happens.

Hear that song and let it help, as it has done for me:
