If only

I stand facing the window

Looking at nothing in particular

The tears are touched by sadness and a sense of my own failure

but mostly just love for you

The weight of time is pressing down

And I struggle to hold onto the strands of life

Hope a distant light trying not to be enveloped by the darkness

You have always enchanted me and forever you always will

In solitude you are my companion

In silence you  speak to my heart

If only I could let you see, how I see, the beauty of who you are

If only I could  let you feel, how I feel, whenever you are near

If only I could let you sense, how I sense, the love I hold within.

Beautifully touching... I say she's a lucky one to have one caring and loving heart such as yourself! As for failure, I somehow doubt that she sees it as anything resembling that... just a hunch. Very nice :)

Send this poem to the person you're addressing in the text and you'll have fulfilled all your wishes in the last three lines. Very poignant and beautifully expressed.

I love this poem and I felt it all the way to my heart. So much longing and tenderness. It's truly beautiful.

I agree with shells, longing holding the ghosts inside ourselves, just wanting to release them
