A Man Who Died
There was a man who died some time agoBack when it was romantic to be in love,
With a woman who breathed like poetry she sang
A high and wistful tune, she made him miss her notes
Were like stars shining in a deep Western sky
The Night wrapped 'round her slender form
The way she wore that visionary dress
Was more tender than a melancholy graveyard rain
Where childhood ghosts post magic ticket leaves on chalkboard trees,
Now she's knitting scarves for thieves that covet her Light
Pulling a stone across Gethsemane Boulevard with a smile so wry
He loved her more than a world of words, so
There was a man who died some time ago.
