Time Escaping
Can you feel time escapingIn the hollowing lightness of bones?
In the tightness of your voice when you reply
To the loose monotony of prepaid telephones
Talking about us, you and I and
The time which we never made
We were fooled by this world
I feel you next to me when I move
There is no one there but your ghost
A wraith of thought that was a summer day
That was always meant to ever be
Yet for reasons for seasons unfathomable
I cannot know to name never came our way
In the years that fall like shadows draping
I fear our love is mirror bound
To an image past in present trappings
like an echo in search of sound
Like a square getting around
For lonely moments lost in hoping
I can feel the time escaping.
