This Evening
It's going to rain again this eveningSomewhere in the world someone feels
A heart beating next to their very own,
I shall lie here in the luxuriant stillness
As another darkness falls from near and distant stars
With a name to caress on my tongue soft as silk
She feels like a summery dress carelessly thrown
Across the bed with a look that says,
"Come here I want you, just as much as you want me."
I am alone again as ever this evening
With the memories of a dream that never never was to be
Death grins at me from the dusty corner of my room
The cat makes contented noises of a blessed innocent child
My skin regenerates more slowly and my breath ponders a spell
You cast my way without ever ill meaning
It's going to rain again this evening.
