New Poetry

All the words have been used up
Words like love adore and dove
How can I tell you the way I feel
How can I make my words appeal
..........................................................
It's all been done, done and dusted
By poets of yesteryear
Like Keats, Wordsworth and blokes like that
William Shakespeare had a way with words
Emily Dickinson and W.B. Yeats could pen a tale or two
T. S. Eliot, the clever sod
Used up words like they were going out of fashion
E. E. Cummings, Robert Burns and Spike Milligan
Made me cry and smile
Now I sit in a land of used up words
A pile of discarded letters like L.O.V. and E.
The poet's corner should be a squire
That's only fair
More room for folks to move in
Be creative with new letters
The A B C has been used up
I need a secret garden of forgotten letters
Plant them in a row and see them grow
And water them into new poetry

I love this, I wish I could find some new words to express my enjoyment. I'll garden the alphabet and see what I can grow ;-)

As you have so artfully shown, Mick, its not the letters or even the words but the thoughts that move the art forward. Well done!

Poetry , always reinventing it self
Poetry , always work in progress
Poetry , had it's revolution 1914-1918
Poetry , reclaimed by the likes of us

Be it a small consolation, when I first started school the lexicon had about 300,000 words. These days there a just over 1M. That should allow for some new writing. ☺
