I witnessed a singer song writer at a concert singing her soul, using the capo. The rest is who she reminded me of.

Capo

she slid the bar across the neck
attached to an Altered Note
Fingering strings to melody rote
Accompanying melancholy lyrics

She is alone in a listening crowd
Singing her story for all to see
Touching her pain as if it is we
Clapping Our approval of her sound

I see another stroking her strings
Emoting songs from her past
Country flair and gospel cast
Capo bar and mezzo sings

She sings her love of song
pleasing tone and guitar chords
Telling tales of performed chorus
To an attentive crowd of one

Where the rugged cross is old
A jet plane left flying high
Phoenix has a horizon sunrise
And A cheating heart bleeds cold.

Very nicely written. As a former busker I know that even a crowd of one can be very generous.

Very well written. The capo alters the length of the neck and therefore the notes played. Don't you wish there was a capo for relationships too? you speak of your character's pain and her music being her release. Wonderful and it seems spoken from experience. Again, a well constructed poem with well delivered content and emotion.
