tabooing in a traditional, recently-post-war society.

Achelois

I was there and so was she.
Calm and stirring, scared and free.
Swinging in the swings and staring
Ever, oh so gently caring.

I was there and so was she.
A touch of hands, how could that be?
For nothing resembled yesterday
No more victims, chase or prey

I was there and so was she
Time slowed down, why didn't we?
Rushing and risking heartbreak
Chances were ours to take.

I was there and so was she
Hastily we came to be
One... With the deepest dreams we'd hidden
One... With the sinister and forbidden.

I was there and so was she
Worries collapsed and so did he.
For she may not be a king or queen
But she's my secret, my Irene*.

I love the way it flows and the repetition gives it a haunting feeling. Very good indeed :)
