August Two Lane Rural Road
Down a two lane rural roadAugust Golden West Sunset
Journey to no place suggested
Subliminal images load
I see but am not aware
Of Soybean fields green and lush
Arid corn stalks rush
Pass me as I drive to no where
Owl's adorn power lines
A tree shaped lady's face
Decaying farms building lace
My path necessity assigned
Pungent odors wrinkle my nose
Of stored Dairy cow manure
Milking cows black and white allure
To land that is in growth mode
Cruising over a bridge above
Shining rails and timber tarred
That echo emptiness from afar
Where engineers alarms store
Loud slices of silence
In box cars banging cadence
Furniture plant that once housed
Proud practitioners of fading art
Casualty of price point fatal charts
Where greed finances its final pause
Glistening diamonds span green fields
where Yadkin creeks shimmer gold
Teasing as looking eyes unfold
To subconscious voracious appeal
Down the road to mundane events
There is much to see unnoticed
Daily a path of unconscious focus
To a place that creativity spent
