HIS NAME WAS KHALED AL-ASAAD

Khaled al-Asaad - not a name that springs to mind
Not a rock - pop singer - not a celebrity
Now or at any time in his 82 years of life
Al-Asaad - a world famous archaeologist
Quit - unassuming - did not seek the lime light
Did not court publicity - just not his thing
History his bag - published articles published in journals
Little known - read by only a few
Some times interviewed fore T V documentary's
Khaled al-Asaad - passion - was history - passing on his passion on
All his knowledge on to the young - and the not so young - like me - one and all
He were not one fore doing bravery - did not have the time fore any of that

Then came is - all that changed
They wonted to know where Kahaled al Asaad , had hid the treasures - he refused To tell
Fore Khaled al-Asaad - they were not treasures - no- for Kahaed al-Asaad
They were artifacts - each one he'd hid - for all humanity to enjoy - study
They threatened - Al - beet him up - words haven failed to persuade - Al
They took him near some historical - ancient buildings - made - Al - kneel in the sand
He , Al - smiled - again refusing to tell - he took a last look at great buildings
He still smiled - tho more broader
Then they decapitated , Al
It was quick - so his eyes still saw - and look around - he smilde - he'd beaten isis!

This is a sad story Ken but very well told. It tells everyone how barbaric they are and how defiant people remain proud and strong by defying their demands. He probably saved many lives by not telling them. Well done.

Well done Mr. Ken. You have spoken for a brave man in an elegant way. "Murdering a man is not an argument, it is really accepting defeat. But religions don't believe in dialogues, they believe in murder, in the sword—that is their argument. To me, it is their defeat. – OSHO

And you have voiced Al Asaad loud here.

This is an impressive story of bravery against cowardice. I do believe that beheading the way they are doing it to innocent people is a true act of cowardice. Good poem.

So much priceless art has been destroyed by barbaric zealots (not only Muslims). It's very sad. It's worse when they kill those who know and defend that art.
