If I Could

Innocent eyes, both deep and shallow
as yet no life to pain the heart
no sights to shed tears over
no bitter feelings to scar her innocent eyes
eyes that only see love
eyes that ask for cuddles
eyes that smile and laugh
complete and utter trust
the toddler with wide bright eyes
innocent eyes that ask for nothing
I would give her the earth
if I could

That's the great thing about being a grandfather . . . we get to try, but really it is the grandkids who five us the earth and our continuing place in it even after we will have gone.
