DEAD EARTHWORM (with corrections & changes)

While walking to catch The Loop Bus into town
On the path - I looked down - spotted a dead
Earthworm - had escaped from the rain drenched soil
Worm - would of drowned if it had had remained
Escaped the rain - only to die under the backing sun
Now no longer would that earthworm irrigate the soil
So longer insuring - growth of plants - life - for us all
Doing it's bit
I was sad oh so sad to see the dead earthworm laying there
On the concrete paving slab
I gently pick up the earthworm up - with my spit to moisturize the earthworm
In the hope bring the earthworm back to life - in the past this had been achieved
Sadly not this time - I gently - with care I lade the worm down on a nearby garden
As the earthworm - and I share seventy five percent of the same D N A
I was giving care for one of mine!

A beautiful piece Ken. You remind me of the Hindu spiritual master who was extra careful not to tread on ants. Was it Chaitanya? Worms are a farmer's best friend :)
