Backyard Leaves
An Autumn evening, backyard leaves curl and fall with the rain, chill and wet
they were bright for a moment in the torrent of time gone bye
as were we lovers of the light
arms reaching for the skies
like dreams danced in our eyes
while the sun yet shone,
Will we ever forget how right it all felt, like a breath
sweet to taste midst the haste of want and need
(like the Night alone),
planting a seed of grace with laughter and a smile
all the while the heavens danced spun a thread
from way up high to oh so down so low we tread
the boards underneath our souls so green until they creak
comes eternal Night, forget to weave, to speak
An Autumn evening . . .
