To a far away friend

Way Away

This isn't at all
How I thought it would be,
Me here forever
And you 'cross the sea;
I never expected
That we'd be together,
Nor did I imagine
We'd meet almost never
'Til age makes us weary
And brittles our bones
And buries our memories
'Neath moss covered stones.

Wonderful rhymes, especially the last one. You tend to think of friends as you get older and wonder what could have been. I love brief clever pieces.

A beautiful longing sentiment so very well conveyed through a formidable rhythm and rhyme scheme. Well written!
