THE EDELWEISS PIRATES! - German youth who said NEIN! (now with a postscript)

Edelweiss - a flower right - a song in The Sound Of Music - right - cute song - right
Not the kind of word any would say was a word - song - of defiance - courage Right
HOW wrong those who think so - including me - I have to say - to be honest - right
You see when Hitler and his Nazis were in power - the government of Germany - legit
You heard of the Hitler Youth - well - bet if few ever heard of The Edelweiss Pirates
Na - that kind of American little league ball players - mind sounds like they were
Na , made up of youths aged fourteen to seventeen - yes bloody teenagers!
Now they did go a bundle of what that bloke Hitler and his lot were doing - so they Said '' bolox '' , to Hitler and his crony's! - like

They decided that to - be rebels - not holding protest -like
Hid in plain sight kind of - encourage - to think for them self's - not letting - fall fore Hitlers lies
The Edelweiss Pirates - were in city's - towns through out Germany
The Pirates - became an irritant to the NAZES - at first the NAZES - bore 'em
Till those complain about 'em - demanding something should be don about them
Some were sent to consecration camps - worked hard - to be tart a lesson!
Thirteen - were hanged in Cologne in 1944
Hid army deserters

Now I used to find The Edelweiss , song in The Sound Of Music - rather twee
Words - well soft - naive - as the film is set during World War Two!
Till I heard the story behind the song - the history - tears will flow next time it is plaid!

AND do I like these bands of brothers and sisters!
