Remains In Love

She did not wish to be in love
Oh no not her it could not be
Life alone was enough almost to cry
He promised to always wait, she asked why?
She did not wish to be in love
No matter how he tried
She stayed where she had always been
Remaining 'til she died
Where her remains may still be seen
Oh no not her it could not be
She did not wish to be in love

This one is interesting because of all of the possibilities in "She did not wish to be in love." Perhaps she was, but did not wish to be. Or perhaps she did not wish to be, therefore wasn't. I guess what intrigues me is the question of whether we have control over whether we love. Of course, the answer was irrelevant to him because she stayed where she had always been. Sad for them both.
