THE OPPORTUNIST! (with thanks to I NEVER SAID THAT)

He saw a gap in the market
An opportunity - beckoned
Sang - wrote the songs
That the times were a needing
He cleaned up - BUT -
Some how - somert about him
Just don't feel right - looking back

The rest - rested on their laurels - maybe
Kind of got left in the dust of the past
Had a lot of catching up to do - you may think
BUT - they had their integrity intact - I like that!
He were faking it - they were not

The dust had cleared - and they were right - and that's all right!

The times they are a-needing. I don't know if I get it, but I like it. I love the line: "The dust had cleared - and they were right - and that's all right!" How refreshingly generous.
