Black or white?

Coffee or tea
Another chocolate biscuit perhaps
Do a crossword
Watch a film
No
No no
Write a poem
Thats what I will do
Write a breathtaking poem
Like whats his name did all those years ago
You know
That fella we were told about at school
Not that I understood it mind you
All those funny words
Oh, Yes, Wordsworth
Thats what his name was I think
Or was it Shake something
Yes, Shakespeare
He could put a few words together, apparently
Not that I understood it mind you
Not like McCartney, Bowie or that bloke on the radio the other day
No
I think I'll have a cup of coffee
And a chocolate biscuit
Sod the poetry
Nobody reads it anyway
Only you
Yes you
How do you like your coffee
Black or white?

I'll take my coffee white, please, that is, with milk. I like to read the poetry here, like this one. It's real, written by real, albeit virtual friends. Enjoyed your soliloquy.

Nancy Sikora
I love the internal dialogue. And it is true, nobody reads poetry anyway.
