Waiting

Awaiting your return from overseas
at least fills up my life with longing.
Waiting is an unendurable eternity
but still just one brief moment of our lives
completely neutralized, when you return, to nothing,
like all tantrums, tribulations, pains and sufferings
for your love's sake just vanish when at last
we are together once again, all sufferance made null and void.
The dreariness, depression, darkness and despair
meanwhile though are not to be borne with,
and there is no hell more fatal than to have to do without your love.
When she is there, you are the ruler of the world,
and when she's gone you are worse off
than any fallen angel stuck in hell forever without hope.
So we shall smile indeed when you return,
and may your glorious return then be a continuity forever.

one trick pony The PoetBay support member heart!
There is a change of tone with the line beginning:

"When she is there . . . "

It seems you are inviting the reader into the poem, into this very private world. It's very effective.
